The wine displays a lovely deep garnet hue with crimson tints. The intense bouquet brings together notes of black and red fruits, spices, mint and resinous balsamic notes. The wine is broad and fresh on entry, leading to a full-bodied and smooth structure on the palate. The finish is lingering with spicy and balsamic notes.

History

Born in the heart of the southern Rhône Valley, the Secret des Galets range celebrates the richness and diversity of its terroirs. Shaped by pebbly soils, the Mistral wind and a sunny climate, each wine captures the true essence of this remarkable region. This collection demonstrates the generosity and deep character of the Rhône Valley’s finest terroirs.

Terroir

The special climate of the Châteauneuf du Pape area is among the driest in the Côtes du Rhône. The heat stored by the pebbles during the day is released back on to the vines at night, helping the grapes to attain perfect ripeness.

Winemaking

The grapes are picked in the early morning and then completely destemmed. During vatting, the temperature is lowered to 7°C to carry out a cold pre-fermentation maceration and thereby extract more colouring matter and primary aromas. The vats have their caps punched down each day over a vatting period lasting 4 weeks. The wine is then aged on its lees in temperature-controlled vats for 10 months and partially in barrels.
