Vianney Castan: the legacy of a passion for wine
For Vianney Castan, wine is a family affair. In 1907, his great-grandfather Joseph was a winemaker in the small Languedoc village of Lansargues. He has carefully conserved a certificate given to his grandfather in 1927 listing the gold medals awarded to him at the Montpellier wine competition. Vianney himself has inherited this passion from his grandfather Jean and his father Gilbert. In 2007, whilst working as Export Director for one of the region’s major producers, Vianney created his own company which he named Joseph Castan Fine Wine as a tribute to his great grandfather. He purchased Château Saint Jean d’Aumières in 2012 and, with the help of his dedicated team, he continues to keep the flame of the family legacy alive in the exceptional terroir of Terrasses du Larzac.
Originally from the region, Emilie began her career in London where she spent three years working as an import/export assistant. She then worked in the wine industry upon her return to Montpellier. She met Vianney and decided to join him in the entrepreneurial adventure. Emilie is now involved in all aspects of the business including managing the administrative side of the various companies and looking after Château Saint Jean d’Aumières alongside Vianney.
